Which Should You Buy?

Buying a trailer – whether it is for your personal use or for commercial use – is a significant investment, and you want to make sure that you buy the trailer that meets your needs. Of course, not everyone is well-versed in the specifics of trailers, but there is one point you certainly need to dwell on – which type of axle are you going to need? Single or double? When it comes to trailers, you have generally two options: a single axle trailer from Sunshine Coast, or a double axle trailer (which is also known as a tandem axle trailer). There are also tri-axle trailers – called tridem trailers – but those are essentially reserved for the largest trucks. To start with, the axle refers to the shaft on which the tyres are fixed on. A single axle technically features one axle; a double axle has two axles. Thus, you will find only a single tyre on each side of the trailer if it is a single axle; you will find two tyres on each side (for a total of four) if you go with a double axle.

With the specifics cleared, we can move onto which of the two trailers for sale is best. You first need to understand that each of these trailers has unique advantages which the other does not possess. Accordingly, it is only on the basis of your needs that the best trailer can be selected. The single axle, for example, is basically less heavy than the tandem axle trailers. It is cheaper not only cost-wise, but also when you consider the fact that it is less of a burden to tow. It being less heavy also makes it easier to manoeuvre. And an obvious advantage is in its maintenance – with only one set of tyres, you only have to worry about the maintenance of two tyres. Furthermore, these trailers are generally smaller than the tandem trailers – and they are easier to park in small spaces.

On the other hand, tandem axle trailers boast of a separate set of advantages. They have two sets of tyres, which can greatly stabilize the trailer when travelling at higher speeds (hence, they are better suited to highways and the like). Their suspensions are also comparatively better than those of the single axle and thus, this leads to less swaying and bouncing. Not to add, changing tyres is also easier – it does not require a jack. Finally, their greater stability allows them to hold a greater weight.
